A Phase Space Diagram for Gravity

چکیده

In modified theories of gravity including a critical acceleration scale a0, a critical length scale rM = (GM/a0) will naturally arise with the transition from the Newtonian to the dark matter mimicking regime occurring for systems larger than rM . This adds a second critical scale to gravity, in addition to the one introduced by the criterion v < c of the Schwarzschild radius, rS = 2GM/c. The distinct dependencies of the two above length scales give rise to non-trivial phenomenology in the (mass, length) plane for astrophysical structures, which we explore here. Surprisingly, extrapolation to atomic scales suggests gravity should be at the dark matter mimicking regime there.

0 Geometry of 4 d Simplicial Quantum Gravity with a U ( 1 ) Gauge Field ∗

The geometry of 4D simplicial quantum gravity with a U(1) gauge field is studied numerically. The phase diagram shows a continuous transition when gravity is coupled with a U(1) gauge field. At the critical point measurements of the curvature distribution of S 4 space shows an inflated geometry with homogeneous and symmetric nature. Also, by choosing a 4-simplex and fixing the scalar curvature ...

Sensitivity analysis of time lapse gravity for monitoring fluid saturation changes in a giant multi-phase gas reservoir located in south of Iran

The time lapse gravity method is a widely used technique to monitor the subsurface density changes in time and space. In hydrocarbon reservoirs, the density variations are due to different factors, such as: substitution of fluids with high density contrast, water influx, gas injection, and the variation in reservoir geomechanical behavior. Considering the monitoring of saturation changes in the...

On the phase diagram of 2d Lorentzian Quantum Gravity

Recently a new model of 2d quantum gravity has been proposed [1]. It is defined using dynamical triangulations from a subclass of diagrams which can be given a causal structure. Such diagrams are generated by gluing together one dimensional time–slices or “universes” (in our case a set of vertices connected by space-like links forming a diagram with the topology of a circle) with time-like link...

Black Hole-Black String Phase Transitions from Hydrodynamics

We discuss the phase transitions between three states of a plasma fluid (plasma ball, uniform plasma tube, and non-uniform plasma tube), which are dual to the corresponding finite energy black objects (black hole, uniform black string, and non-uniform black string) localized in an asymptotically locally AdS space. Adopting the equation of state for the fluid obtained by the Scherk-Schwarz compa...
